A brief history of the Chicago & North Western Iowa Division mainline, now part of the Overland Route:

06/26/21

This small stone arch culvert crosses a small stream in Carroll.
Built in 1889, the bridge consists of a single stone arch span. In addition, a concrete encased beam span forms an even longer structure, although this beam span was not documented.
This concrete encased beam span was added to the culvert in 1910. This culvert is located underneath a rail yard as well.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition. Some deterioration was noted on the stone arch portion of the bridge.

The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
